The Light of Self Knowledge

For centuries, the Scientific Community has embraced the Doctrine of Materialism, which holds that all that is real and exists is composed purely of physical matter, and that phenomena such as consciousness and mental processes are produced purely through brain activity. That is, when someone dies and their brain no longer functions, they can’t possibly be conscious. However, for several decades evidence has been mounting that this is not true, forcing us to consider that consciousness can separate from the body to function in either a physical or non-physical existence. If this is true, non-physical phenomena might influence physical reality.

This would apply to everyone, but there are two groups that are of specific concern. The scientific community has a big problem with this, because this would mean they don’t have a realistic understanding of the universe. One obvious consequence would be that rather than consciousness being a function of the brain, the brain might simply be used by consciousness to control the body, and that consciousness will function with or without a brain. The scientific community has another looming problem in that climate change appears poised to render our planet uninhabitable before we can populate other planets. Materialism could then be relabeled as Inconsequentialism, as this would soon result in no trace of humanity throughout the universe.

The other group of concern would be individuals who have experienced a Near-Death, Out-of-Body Event, or NDE. The vast majority of these individuals have no doubt that consciousness survives the death of the physical body, and that this is the most dramatic and euphoric experience they could ever imagine. This is so profound that many who have had NDEs go to lengths to somehow revisit and build on the experience. Very commonly this is accomplished through psychic practitioners on the internet facilitating communication with deceased family members. However, the less familiar, but ultimate means of exploring our out-of-the body capabilities lies in contemplative mystical teachings which have been taught for thousands of years.

So, the purpose of this website is to serve both the scientific and NDE communities. The scientific community has always turned toward evidence-based studies, and since 1991 there has been a spectacular NDE case which conclusively proves consciousness survives death, but the scientific community largely ignores its existence. For the NDE crowd, there is no need to prove the existence of consciousness beyond death, because they have had the experience, and nothing is more meaningful than that. As well, you will see that the number of individuals experiencing NDEs is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions, which provides profound statistical significance and an audience with extreme motivation. And if you happen to have an interest in the study of consciousness, but are not a scientist nor have had an NDE, don’t despair. All that is necessary is the study and practice of a mystical teaching that covers all the realms of the universe. So with all this in mind, here is the overview that explores the question:

What if You Never Had to Die?

The following video presents a brief overview of the hidden reality available to us through the study of consciousness.  If this is of interest to you, a more in-depth presentation can be read and downloaded here.  This paper is also available at Academia.edu along with conversations and comments.

Article

In grammar, an article is any member of a class of dedicated words that are used with noun phrases to mark the identifiability of the referents of the noun phrases. The category of articles constitutes a part of speech. Articles combine with nouns to form noun phrases, and typically specify the grammatical definiteness of the noun phrase. In English, the and a (rendered as an when followed by a vowel sound) are the definite and indefinite articles respectively. Articles in many other languages also carry additional grammatical information such as gender, number, and case. Articles are part of a broader category called determiners, which also include demonstratives, possessive determiners, and quantifiers. In linguistic interlinear glossing, articles are abbreviated as ART.
